Centro La Lucciola provides several services:

Therapeutic-rehabilitation-education treatment

The frequency at the Centre for the treatment of a child/adolescent varies from a minimum of 1 day to a maximum of 5 days per week. The frequency is agreed with the family and any referring party from the Paediatric Neuropsychiatry service of the Health Unit in charge of the case. The treatment involves the definition and implementation of a personalized therapeutic plan that defines the child/boy's growth targets on an emotional-affective, cognitive, and behavioural level and the therapeutic, rehabilitative, and educational ways to pursue them.
The treatment includes:
- Parenting support to single parents and/or couples
- Group psychotherapy
- Communication therapy
- Educational interventions:
expressive activities (painting, ceramics, felt, music, theatre, crafts)
learning activities (language, maths, science, history, geography, history of art)
sports and leisure (basketball, playing games, games with textured material ...)
daily life activities (cooking, tidying up, personal care ...)
plant and animal care (gardening, park, hens, sheep ...)

Important: In the year 2015 the Centre received from the Regional Government of Emilia Romagna the healthcare provider license as a Psychiatric Centre for Minors. This Accreditation provides a limit of 11 years of age to access the Centre with the fee being paid for by the Local Health Unit (AUSL). Smaller children can still access the treatment, though only privately.
For any information about supporting families struggling to bear the costs of the treatment for younger children, please refer to the Care Fund.

Assessment for admission to the Centre

In order to gain access to the Centre, the a preliminary assessment is mandatory and specifically includes:
- Family interview on the clinical history and problems of the child/adolescent
- Diagnostic and multi-professional functional evaluation through clinical observation on site
The evaluation is free of charge when the child/adolescent is referred by the Local Health Unit's Neuropsychiatry Service in Modena; for all other cases a fee applies.

Specialist consultancy

At the Centre users can ask for specialist advice for a diagnostic definition of the case and for receiving therapeutic, rehabilitative, and educational recommendations. Such a request can be made directly by the family, upon referral by the Neuropsychiatry Service in charge of the child or any other physician.
The consultancy includes:
- Family interview on the clinical history and problems of the child/adolescent
- Diagnostic and multi-professional functional evaluation through clinical observation on site
- Specialist visits, if needed

Short observation and treatment cycles

Short cycles (2-3 days) are times of high therapeutic intensity. They have the purpose of providing prolonged observation of the child and the first implementation of a rehabilitation treatment.
With the cycle it is possible to:
- Obtain data from a detailed clinical observation in a group and in tangible activities carried out during the stay
- Identify treatment and therapeutic, rehabilitative, educational guidelines for the family or the referring specialist.
The cycles also represent a particularly useful opportunity for children and adolescents who live far and cannot come to the Centre regularly.
